BIOGRAPHY Phillip Filo began his professional career in 1984, appearing in his first television commercial for Toyworld at the age of seven. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, he fronted numerous local and international television advertising campaigns for a catalogue of brands including Colgate, Arnott’s, Mattel, Cottees and Coca-Cola. After high school, he secured his first full-time performing role as a singer/dancer at Australia’s Wonderland. Over the next decade, he continued working as a full-time performer, with career highlights including: ‘Henry’ in Firefly (Reef Hotel Casino), singer/dancer in Starcast (Norwegian Star), ‘Doody’ in two separate national tours - Grease: The Arena Spectacular and Grease: The Mega Musical, and touring Australia as a featured singer and choreographer in Tim Rice’s Musical Spectacular, performing alongside Sir Tim Rice, INXS, Kate Ceberano, and Anthony Warlow. In 2004, Phillip joined Universal Studios Japan as ‘Wolfie’ in Monsters Live before transitioning into a creative role behind the scenes. By 2005, he had become full-time role Musical Director on USJ's creative team, later advancing to Associate Director and eventually Show Director. Notable projects during his tenure at USJ include: Universal Studios Japan Halloween Parade - Director/Choreographer, Santa’s Toy Party - Director/Choreographer, Magical Starlight Parade - Head Choreographer, Hello Kitty’s Hollywood Adventure - Musical Director/Choreographer, Sesame Street Dancing Dreams - Musical Director/Choreographer, and Wicked - Resident Musical Director. After a fantastic six-year run, Phillip returned to his native Sydney in 2010 and has continued working as both a Musical Director and Choreographer. His client list now includes McDonald’s Australia, Commonwealth Bank, The XXXX Angels, Sydney Carols in the Domain, The Think Brick Awards, Luminous Events Asia, Zeal Experiential International, and The Australian Girls Choir. He is also a key creative for Grayboy Entertainment, musically directing and producing shows for P&O/Carnival Australia, including Please Don’t Stop the Music, DISconnected, The Very Last Night Show, Twice Upon a Time, SEVEN, Rock Anthems of the Ages, X-Centric, Musicology, and O N E. Currently, Phillip has seven shows running across the entire Carnival Australia fleet. |
